As the saying goes, "stick to what you know."  Well, formally called Carriage House, Wicker Park restaurant, Buck's keeps the Southern-comfort food, but with a simplified menu, and a focus on it's infamous fried chicken!  The newly reconceptualized restaurant also features hip decor, including Instagram-foodie-post perfect, pineapple printed wallpaper.

Simplicity works in Buck's favor with a menu featuring starters, sides, sweets, select sandwich options, and your choice of 2 piece, 1/2 bird, or a whole bucket of finger lickin' chicken.  Of course I HAD to sample the whole bird bucket, with the recommended "kickin'" spices!  Served with fluffy, buttery biscuits and homemade preserves, the only thing missing is a pitcher of sweet tea and some good ol' front porch sittin'.

But, when it comes to a tasty beverage, Buck's doesn't disappoint!  Their drink menu keeps things traditional with a twist, featuring an Old Fashioned, Manhattan, and Whiskey Sour.  Looking for something to tingle your taste buds?  Try a Zinger or a Rattlesnake, a refreshing summer beverage with your choice of spirit!

Growing up, one of my mother's signature summertime snacks was fried green tomatoes.  Topped with a sea island pea salad, Buck's take on this classic dish had me all nostalgic.  Another must try menu offering is the mac and cheese - the perfect amount of cheesy and savory!

Conveniently located just across the street from neighborhood hot spot, Bangers and Lace, Buck's is a refreshing addition that has already gained a lot of hype since it's opening just five months ago.  Now with a patio set up and warmer weather on the way, I know where I'll be spending my summer nights in Wicker!
