Hello Readers!

It is that time of the month again! Since June is National Acne Awareness Month, this month I had the pleasure of testing out La Roche-Posay Effaclar Dermatological Acne System. I wanted to review this acne system because there are so many out on the market, and as a consumer it can be rather difficult finding a product that best suits your specific needs. From expensive to inexpensive there are many acne systems and treatments to choose from, which can make the process of shopping for one an overwhelming experience. I am here to try to alleviate some of that pressure and confusion by providing my insight on the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Dermatological Acne System.

La Roche-Posay has formulated the Effaclar Dermatological Acne System which retails for $29.99 at your local drugstore, this system is going to help people of all ages clear up their dreaded acne.  This new system consists of a dual action acne treatment lotion that is non-comedogenic, oil-free, fragrance-free and paraben-free. This acne system is going to treat your acne using a three step process, but also still safe for sensitive skin and all skin types. This system includes a clenser, a toner, and a spot treatment, to include in your daily regimen. I personally have sensitive, combination skin, with mild breakouts due to everything from bad diet to just have a bad day. I also have problems with dreadful blackheads that can leave the texture of my skin rather bumpy. For the past two and half years I have used my Clarasonic brush as a part of my skincare regimen, with any cleanser I was using at the time. The clenser included in this system is a gel based cleanser that gently cleanses the skin without any burning, stinging, or abrusivness.

Due to the gel based consistency, it is going to lather very well, and if you are using any type of cleasning brush it can lather up too much. If you are going to use it with a cleansing brush I recommend using a small amount of the cleanser. The cleanser made my skin feel extremely clean without stripping my natural oils from my skin, leaving it feeling tight like some cleansers have done in the past. The toner, effectively tones the skin without any burning or stinging you might find in other brands' toners. I recommend using a cotton pad just because from my experience, the cotton ball soaked up quite a bit of the product and you don't want to be wasteful with such a great product. Toner, is one of the most overlooked skincare products when it comes to daily skin care regimens.

Many people do not include a toner but should because it balances out the pH levels in the skin. This toner is one of the better ones I have used in my years because my skin felt refreshed and had an overall clean feeling, opposed to some brands that burned my skin and left it irriated for minutes after use. The spot treatment, is something I was not sure I would utilize because I do not have just one or two large breakouts but small texture on my skin, and some small blackheads. I used the spot treatment twice a day and would put it on my texture and within two days the texture had cleared up significantly.

Overall, the system really worked well with my skin type, and it didn't cause any irriatation which was one of my main concerns. If you are on the market for a new acne cleansing system I highly recommend looking into this one. Acne can make anyone feel uncomfortable in their own skin and result to low self esteem or using a variety of makeup products to cover the skin. Combat your acne with this amazing, inexpensive skin care system.
