How to Style: Leather Shorts

Hello all of you fashionable ladies and lads! Today, I am going to be sharing with you how to style a fierce and fun piece for the summer, and pretty much any season for that matter: the leather short. Leather shorts sometimes have a connotation of being tacky and/or inappropriate for most occasions; however, if you find a pair that fit well and are not super short, then you can wear them for a variety of events in many ways. Below are just a few ideas to get you started on your leather short styling venture:

1. Make the shorts refined. Add a blazer and/or button up blouse on top to make them much more professional and sophisticated. Tuck the blouse in and make sure the blazer hits just slightly above or below the waistband of the shorts to define your waist.

2. Go on the flipside and make them edgy. Add a leather and lace shirt in the same hue as the shorts to act like a romper and wear some booties and great jewelry to edge up the outfit and your overall look.

3. Toss on a denim jacket and vintage tee. This combination makes the shorts much more wearable for the day time and easily transitions the shorts into a more casual vibe.

4. Be aware of heel height. For example, heels and shorts can make your legs look super long, which is a plus, but sometimes a lot of a good thing is too much. For example, if the heels are pushing that 4 inch to 6 inch mark, then think about going for a pair slightly shorter for a less provocative look.
