The Halfstack team is filled to the brim with talented individuals. Yes, each has their own skill set in writing and expertise in their primary area of interest. Yet, many of the people who are a part of this robust team have so many amazing side projects going on that it absolutely amazes me. I always say how honored I am to be surrounded (in the digital sense most of the time) by such talented people and it's not a humble brag. The Halfstack team is pretty damn rad. That being said, I think of this outlet as a way to not only write about awesome things going on in Chicago, but to also cross promote our talented staff.
This week staff writer: Kathleen Leiffers is performing at Uncommon Ground to promote recent music for her band: The Jades during the Skyline Music Concert Series. The showcase features four artists stripping down original songs acoustically non-stop from 7 -10PM. She goes on at 7:45PM
9:15 – 10:00 Robbie Gold
8:30 – 9:15 Aaron Williams Band (Solo)
7:00 – 7:45 Alex Lablaiks
Kathleen and the Jades offer a beautiful blend of bluesy folk music that is at once enchanting and gripping. Her voice has a soulful grit that keeps listeners entranced and connected with her lyrics. Her guitar playing is on point and helps to create a robust sound that combines gorgeous melodies and harmonies through a minimal acoustic setting.
Go give this local act some local love and hit up the Skyline Music Concert Series on Thursday! I can type a million words to describe the music, but nothing does it justice more than actually hearing it. So, check out The Jades' most recent "raw" set on youtube below.
