1. Belt it. A belt with metallic detailing is a super cool way to add some interest to a gown, as long as it hits in the right position based on where the designer created the waist on the garment.
2. Add a little sparkle. A little can go a long way with jewelry. If your dress is already pretty dramatic, then a simple gold necklace or dainty bracelet may do just the trick, instead of piling on tons of extra pieces.
3. Drape it. In this instance I don't mean the gown itself, rather I mean a vest or blazer or jacket of some sort to add a fashion-forward twist.
4. Choose the right shoes. Heels are usually a must with gowns like these, since they help to elongate the body and, if you are fairly short as I am, make sure the dress doesn't drag on the ground. Just be sure that if you are wearing a lighter dress to choose dainty heels, rather than over-the-top clunky ones.
