She is currently the sou chef at Mt. Sinai Kitchen in Chicago and specializes in American cuisine with world influences.
What is her background?
Her desire to become a chef started in high school due to her desire to entertain. She grew up on the south side of Chicago and loved how food brought people together.
What is the first thing she cooked?
Shrimp scampi. She was inspired by a dish she ate at Red Lobster and wanted to recreate it. Golden makes everything from scratch because it not only tastes better but is also healthier.
What are her accomplishments?
She worked her way on to Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen and came out as the winner for the "Split Happens" episode that aired March 27, 2016! She has also been featured on Windy City Live and Suntimes as well as on Mt. Sinai's website.
What are Golden's goals?
She would like to start a food truck or small pop up restaurant and is currently looking for members to join her team. If you are interested you can reach out to her on Instagram @goodfood2u.
What is she currently up to?
She teaches people how to cook at Mt. Sinai in the WIC program. Below is an appetizer that she created featuring her signature Jerk Chicken Egg Roll. It has all the traditional components to a regular egg roll, however her secret to making them extra juicy and delicious is using chicken thigh instead other parts of the chicken.
Below is Chef Golden Moore hard at work adding the final spices to the beautifully plated, New Orleans inspired, Shrimp and Grits dish. She used seafood stock, smoked gouda cheese, and cayman pepper in the grits and topped it off with smoked paprika to add depth to the flavor.
To pair with the meal she made a fresh batch of strawberry and pomegranate lemonade.
For dessert she made banana pudding from scratch with sugar cookie crumble on top - it was delicious!
Below is Chef Golden Moore and I. I'm still holding a piece of the jerk chicken egg roll, it was too good not to have at least two servings!
