Are you ready for some make-up Chicago!? Strap in because Nov 12th and 13th Chicago is about to be on fire with makeup. Everyone is on 10 right now with the Cubbies in the World Series, but you know those make-up lovers out there are about to cash in on their year long waiting list.
The Makeup Show comes to the midwest once a year, and it's a one stop shop that understands how diverse our region is in makeup. Often Chicago artists or other amazing midwest artists are overlooked for jobs on the east and west coast, and it shouldn't be that way. The makeup show is all about motivating us to front our careers, while we get hands on workshop training from some of the best artists in the business.
For an artist, this weekend is a huge tool for me to further in my career and make some lasting relationships with other artists. Most of the time in this business you'll meet other artists who have the same goals and mindset that you do, their main goals are to encourage each other and lift each other up. Other times, you'll meet some that are ok with you, as long as you never get better than them, OR there are some that just don't want to have anything to do with you that will stomp their way to the top. The makeup show is NOT one of those places, these professionals are all about building a community, and bridging that gap between us.
They also have some amazing classes, hands on workshops, and seminars that are perfect for anyone really. I wish they had more stuff like this when I was a new artist starting out in the business, the opportunities for you to learn and the education available to you is invaluable.
Make sure you bring your wishlist, some cash, and your thinking cap. You're going to need all day to see everything so start off slow and work your way around. I also advise that you have your list ready of what you want because you can get carried away; as a makeup lover I will be the first one to tell you I've spent WAY too much money. The perk to that is everything is usually discounted to 20-40% off, so you can justify it right?
