Hello everyone! It is Friday and despite this dull weather we have been having in Chicago, you can still sparkle and shine the weekend away! Don't think that metallic pieces must be saved strictly for holidays. Instead of going for something with sequins, which can often read too nighttime, try opting for metallic leather garments. From jackets to pants to skirts there are so many options to chose from. Here are my key styling tips for making metallic leather work for you:

1. Chose a thicker fabric. Whether it is a jacket, pair of pants, or skirt, choose a garment that is in a heavier fabric, so it reads expensive.

2. Wear it Casually. If you are headed out to shop the major sales going on this weekend, then adding a metallic leather jacket to jeans, a turtleneck, and thigh high boots ties the entire look together. A metallic jacket is an instant update to your classic black one.

3. Go Monochromatic. In the look above, you can see how I played off the gunmetal hue of the jacket with grey and silver pieces, such as these jeans. Add hints of black or another neutral to add a bit of contrast, while still looking put together.

4. Make it Work. Yes, you can add a metallic leather piece to your work wardrobe, as long as you tone it down with classic pieces. For example, a metallic leather skirt gets an instant polish from a crisp, collared blouse and structured blazer.
