Summer is by far my favorite time of year to be a foodie! Hot dogs fresh off the grill at Wrigley, street food carts on every corner in Pilsen and an ice cold cocktail on a rooftop overlooking the city. It doesn't get much better than that!
One food trend that made a big comeback in the Midwest this past summer is seafood boils, specifically cray fish. Traditionally served with potatoes, corn and sausage, seafood boils are quite common in areas like Louisiana and the East Coast, where crayfish and seafood are plentiful.
New to the River West neighborhood, restaurant Cracked at 695 takes a unique twist on the traditional seafood boil! When you walk into the space, at 695 N. Milwaukee, you are met with a clean and modern interior. Chandeliers, an underlit bar, and big screen T.V.s; it's like a night club meets a New England seafood restaurant! The space also features an upstairs area called, Anchor Lounge, perfect for events and parties of all kinds. The lounge also offers small bites, served until 2 a.m!
Cracked's menu features a variety of seafood boil options, including king crab legs, mussels, clams, lobster claws, shrimp and crawfish. Guests can order by the pound, then customize with a variety of traditional or dairy-free sauces and heat levels, featuring Garlic & Herbs, Lemon Pepper, Cajun Spices, or the house specialty which blends all three. One of my favorite menu items that I had the pleasure of sampling, is the lobster roll!
More than just seafood, Cracked also serves up an impressive cocktail menu, including Land Lubber: light rum, fresh pomegranate, lime juice, and the North Milwaukee Martini: Botanist gin (my favorite!), Bleu Pel, fresh pressed juice.
Next time you are looking for a happenin' place to grab a craft cocktail, enjoy a variety of fresh seafood and dance the night away, Cracked is the perfect place to do all three!
