Friday is finally here, everyone! I hope you all have something exciting planned for the weekend. One staple that is key for the weekend is denim; however, try branching out from the typical dark wash skinnies and go for a look that's right on trend. Opt for a pair of distressed denim, preferably in a boyfriend or straight style. The spring is really about these looser silhouettes and some distressing, so I am going to share with you my 5 styling tips to really nail this look!

1. Add a Leather Jacket. This tip works for a variety of garments; however, it really works for edging up distressed denim. As seen in the photo above, I have paired this cropped leather jacket with my denim to really give a grungy vibe.

2. Tuck in a Turtleneck. The weather is still frigid in the Chicagoland area, so a turtleneck will definitely be a wardrobe staple for the next few months. So, if you go with a looser boyfriend or straight leg jean, a fitted turtleneck will really balance out the proportions.

3. Cuff your Denim. Cuffing your denim is a great styling trick for almost any jean style, as you are able to show off your shoes. For the look pictured above, I cuffed the hem of my jeans and chose a sleek bootie.

4. Dress up Denim. Instead of a dress or skirt the next time you go out, why not try to dress up some distressed denim?! This idea won't work if it is a formal occasion, such as a wedding, but if you are going out to dinner or out with the girls, then this look is perfect. Just toss on a cute off-the-shoulder top, some sexy heels, and a choker necklace and you're done!
