Chelsea are seven points clear of second placed Tottenham with just seven games of the campaign to go.

The likes of Spurs, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal have all had to compete in either the Champions League or Europa League this season.

While Chelsea have had no added European fixtures, with United boss Jose Mourinho suggesting that has been a key factor in the Blues' domestic form.

But Conte insists that is incorrect, claiming Liverpool have also enjoyed similar benefits but sit just third in the standings.

Liverpool also failed to qualify for European football last season but sit 12 points behind Chelsea having played a game more.

"I listened to this story from when I was the coach at Juventus in my first season," Conte said ahead of tomorrow's trip to Manchester United (4pm).

"I can tell you Liverpool are the same. For sure, we had more time to work with the team.

"This is my first season with a new club, and it's important to have more time to work and transfer your ideas of football.

"But if this is the only reason you [think Chelsea] stay on top of the table, it's a great mistake. We are doing a great job.

"We hope in the future to play the great competitions like the Champions League. I prefer this."
