Alaba has been a regular in the Bayern setup since making his debut in 2009.
The Austria international is one of the world's best full-backs and featured on Tuesday night as the Bundesliga giants were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.
And Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Real president Florentino Perez used the occasion to start negotiations over a summer move.
The La Liga leaders are on the lookout for a new left-back with Fabio Coentrao expected to leave at the end of the season.
However, Perez was not encouraged by what he heard.
The 70-year-old was told that Alaba has no intentions of leaving the Allianz Arena anytime soon.
But, if he was to leave, he would prefer a move to fierce rivals Barcelona instead.
The Catalan giants could also invest in a left-back amid uncertainty over Jordi Alba's future.
The news comes as a major blow to Real who were also reportedly hoping to offload James Rodriguez onto Bayern in return for Alaba.
